Here we cover the isotopic diversity of the elements. For example, why do all carbons not weigh the same? We will also cover the “missing mass” of elements. On their own, two protons and two neutrons weigh more than a helium nucleus, which is made of two protons and two neutrons! The use of carbon-12 as the standard of atomic mass is also covered.
